Greetings, and welcome to my first newsletter ever.
I will keep it sweet and remind you it’s my birthday — I was born on April Fools’ Day. Get foolish or perish. Moreover, it happens to be 10 am on the first Tuesday of the month in Chicago—you know what that means: unleash the sirens. 🚨🚨
Enjoy, Catie.
It’s a bit short notice, but I’m having a birthday art show for my Stones of Folly work. Toast at 7:30 pm! Eat the art! I hid a secret surprise in one lucky rum ball. Friday, April 4th, 6-9pm (see image below).
This past February, I presented Madness and the Unromantic Road: A Non-Linear Artist Talk at the College Art Association conference in NYC.
I was in a group show called Shadows at Chicago Sculptor International’s Project Space. 25+ sculptors showed work related to shadows, the subconscious, darkness, etc.
Chicago Art Department’s website got a facelift! Check out my and the other residents’ pages. What an incredible community to be a part of. :)

Let’s get this out of the way first: politics are a ~friggen~ living nightmare right now, but in case you missed it, Vance & Usha got booed at the Kennedy Center. Boo b*tches. Speaking of Usha, did you know her mom is the Provost at UCSD and was a.k.a. "Provost Chill" and led DEI initiatives at the school… Well, isn’t that a ~~plot twist~~!! I await with bated breath for her confessional; I’ll keep you abreast, ofc.
Anyways, forget the oligarchs and their two-bit nepo babies. I won’t stop resisting them, but damn, they make me want to run for the hills. Who wants to come with?? Could even spend 3 years in the woods, rent free.

🦨 🦨 Cool Thingz:
Matt Bodett from the Center for Mad Culture started an INCREDIBLE podcast called Mad Tea, which explores histories, stories, and creative expressions of madness! Nuance! Outside Perspectives! Lived Experience! It’s on spotify, too.
A supernatural Quilting story about entering a mirror realm. Say less.
🪡Call For Participants: "Between Boundary and Communion"🪡. Supercool project seeking donations of worn textiles and the stories that they hold. Fiber arts ftw!
✨ OPEN CALL: TINY TABLE GALLERY 2025 ✨ April 15th deadline. Come one, come all, tiny sculptors.
If you didn’t know, I was a 👩🏻🍳 career chef 👩🏻🍳 in my 20s, and I love food, from gas station delicacies to top-rated restaurants or your grandmama’s recipes. Long live the gourmand life.
Lest we forget, April Showers are coming. It’s our last chance to enjoy soup before summer. I cannot recommend this French Onion Dumpling Soup enough. Trust me.

What in the name of medieval torture devices are these adorable little fire hydrant houses? It’s giving giddy up ponies, plumes, and carriages, it’s time to find ya’ glass slipper. Or booby traps for city bears. Perhaps entryways to Super Mario’s bondage-filled sewer dungeons? Club Rat? No loitering. My favorite is the first one; look at that custom elegant bodice strap and tri-arc wrought iron fleur-de-lis statuettes. My god. 🥲 Compliments to these humble anonymous metal workers. 🎩
